Day 11 – Into Romania

Host families in Debrecen were incredibly kind

and packed huge lunches for all of us, sent lots of water and can't wait until our return. The trip to the Hungarian/Romanian border took about an hour. We stopped at a McDs for a quick food and money exchange and “break”. Travel is a little slower now since the roads are a little less “superhighwayish”. Bus speeds seem to be diminishing, although the legal limit is much higher. Ox carts don't tend to keep the legal speed limit either.

We arrived in Cluj early and then took a quick look around the Reformed High School that will be the center of our activities for a couple of days. We looked around the Reformed Church next door (where we will be concreting tomorrow evening) and then enjoyed dinner at the high school.

The dormitory has given us the fourth floor to use and we are all enjoying a lazy evening. Tomorrow will be a full day again: church service in the morning (about 40 km away) and then lunch, afternoon return to Cluj and evening worship service and concert in the old church (from the 1400's). More news tomorrow.

  1. Those pictures look so familiar. Starting with the GPS and the street market… Have a nice time there, see you all next sunday.

“where we will be concreting tomorrow evening” adds a whole new aspect to your trip. Will that cement your relationship?

All of the pictures are wonderful, my favorite is everyone seated on the steps! Awesome!
