Day 7 – Straznice & Javornik

Yet another very early morning BUT we were able to sleep on the bus for a while this morning. After a tearful farewell in Ratibor, we were on our way to Straznice for 10 am and 11 am concerts at their High school.

We were due at 9 am, so our 7:30 start should have been fine. Sadly, it is the season of road construction in the Czech Republic (just like Pittsburgh) and after about 4 or 5 detours we arrived in Straznice at about 9:20. Despite that little setback, we were set up and prepared for the 10 am concert and both of our morning concerts were hits with the students. The music teacher was hoping for some Czech tunes and gave me several pieces if music to transcribe for our next visit!

The rooms seated about 125 students at each of the two concerts (10 am and 11 am) and then we went to their cafeteria for lunch. Yum. We had ice cream and a little tour through town and a

little rest before heading out for Javornik and our 6 pm concert. We had another enthusiastic audience for the evening with many questions and a YouTube video of the concert. We'll work on getting the link to you soon.

We have performed for over 1700 audience members in our first 7 days and it has been exciting for the audience and a thrill for us

to perform – even if it has been exhausting so far. A few lighter days are ahead.

All are off to our host families for the evening. Students are with student families (from the Straznice school) and chaperons are with church families from the Javornik congregation.

What a great day!
