Farewell Concert and then Krakow

Posted by smr on August 20th, 2013

Morning worship in Katerinice went well even if the organist failed to play the opening part of the service (that’s what happens when you get an American trying to play). Then came the packing and first farewells and then the final concert in Ratibor. The farewell concert is held in conjunction with a gladiolius festival held in the church and you will see some of the colorful displays below.

The concert packed the sanctuary and our playing was at its best. You will see some of our ringing photos – and thehand of Ean helping Steve… Wiera Jelinek received an award for her contributions to handbells and it is most deserved! Following the reception we all got in cars for the drive to Ostrava where we caught a late van to Krakow, Poland. The van was a couple of hours late, but we had a great ride anyway, especially when we reached Krakow to find that our hostel was right on the main square – you will see the view from our room at the end of the photos.

Now Ross, Ean, Steve, Mollie, and Emily are on their way back home while Mark and Rich headed to Zelow, Poland to reconnect with the ringers there. More news later.
