Lake Bled

Posted by smr on June 23rd, 2014

What a great day for us to have free to visit one of the World Heritage Sights here in Slovenia – Lake Bled. You will see photos of the island church (we only saw it, we didn’t go out to the island), the castle perched high above the town and lake, and loads of happy faces eating gelato, watching dancers in costume, sword fighting and learning about Slovenian culture and history. Lunch was by the lake and it was a day to relax for all.

The castle records date back to 1004 – and it has changed a lot over the centuries. After we returned to Ljubljana we had dinners and some quiet time. Off to Italy and Croatia tomorrow. Good night – and Happy Birthday to Joey Trombetta! (Your sisters miss you terribly!)

The photo of the Island Church is beautiful. it reminds me of a similar photo of a water wheel on a lake in Germany many trips ago. Enjoy every minute.
