Warsaw, Poland

Monday, July 14, 2008

The 4 hour trip to Warsaw took us only about 2 hours and 50 minutes.  We arrived and checked into our hostel quickly.  Our accommodations are wonderful and we have a quiet courtyard outside our windows (at least we hope it remains quiet for the night.)

Mark met us and took us to our concert at the Evangelical Reformed congregation (he also made arrangements for our tables to be there before we arrived!) and we even had a few moments for rehearsal before changing for the concert.  All went well for the concert and we were treated to a short hike to the old town and a dinner at Pizza Hut afterwards.

The concert.

Some of the sights of the Old Town.

All are now tucked away peacefully in bed for the night...

The morning began with a relaxing tube ride to old town where we spent most of the day shopping, sightseeing and relaxing.  Lunch was on our own and we had several different cuisines represented.  Lots of little gifts and shopping.

View from the top of St. Anne's.

We visited the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth at their convent in Warsaw where Mark our bus driver covered Rich's mistake and figured out the time for us to play and once again found tables for us ahead of time.  The concert was in their beautiful chapel which reminded some of us of our visit with the sisters in Rome.  As always, our visit was one of the high points of our time here in Warsaw.

Dinner followed and it was another feast for us.  Several fruits and vegetables on the table were grown in the garden and it was a treat to have fresh vegetables.

We leave early tomorrow morning for Wroclaw... so the website may not get an update until later...
